CHAPTER 1:
One afternoon in May, Axel’s uncle bought a book. The
book was 700 years old. The history is about Iceland. The vocabulary of the
book is Icelandic language. The uncle took a page in the book and translated
it. The page was written by an explorer, Arne Saknussemm. It said how to get to
the centre of the Earth from a volcano in Iceland. The uncle decided goes to
the centre of the Earth with Axel.
Axel is worried about going to the centre of the
Earth. Finally, he goes with his uncle.
CHAPTER 2:
Axel and his uncle arrive in Reykjavik, in Iceland
three weeks later. When they arrive, Mr. Fridikssen introduces them to Hans,
the travel guide.
Early, the next morning, they start the road with
horses.
After a week of travelling, they saw the Snafell
Volcano!
At the top of the volcano, Axel, is nervous. He asked
his uncle if the volcano could erupt. His uncle's answer is: Don't worry Axel.
It hasn't erupted in hundreds of years.
The tree men climb down the crater of the volcano.
CHAPTER 3:
The Professor, Axel and Hans climb down into the
crater of the volcano.
Axel is nervous and tired because they are never going
to reach the bottom.
Finally, the three men arrive at the bottom.
At the bottom at the crater, the men find three large
shafts.
The men don't know which shaft is the Saknussemm. The
professor looks at the initials of Saknussemm in a rock. They have to wait
until the sun comes in one shaft. The next day, the sun comes in one of the
shafts and the three me are excited.
CHAPTER 4:
The three men climb down the long shaft and will find
a cave. In this cave there is a long tunnel.
Then, they continue along the tunnel and Axel decides
to explore and will find quartz and gold. Axel turns to show the Professor and
Hans, but he doesn't see the Professor and Hands.
Suddenly, Axel takes a step and trips...
CHAPTER 5:
The Professor and Hans finally find Axel. The
Professor explains to Axel what they found with Hans when he was lost. The
Professor and Hans show Axel their discovery.
- A sea! And trees! An underground world! - He said
Axel.
They found the bones of animals that have been
exciting for millions of years.
To continue the road they had to cross the sea.
Two days later, the raft is ready and they set sail.
Late, on afternoon appears one monster but, suddenly,
appears another monster!
CHAPTER 6:
The three men are trapped by the fighting monsters.
Finally, the fight is over. One of the monsters is dead. The other monster
dives under the water. The men continue sailing. Early, one morning the sky is
a strange colour. The storm is very violent. Fort three days they battle strong
winds and rain. Suddenly, the raft begins to rip over.
CHAPTER 7:
The professor, Axel and Hans are caught in a terrible
storm. The raft hits some rocks under the water and the men are thrown into the
sea. Hans rescues the Professor and Axel. Hans goes back into the water.
The men rest and Axel and the Professor talk about
where they are.
The Professor finds his compass. Axel doesn't agree
with his uncle.
CHAPTER 8:
The Professor is determined to find the centre of the
Earth. While Hans repairs the raft, Axel and the Professor look around. The men
hide behind some bushes and he looks a man and huge elephants. Axel finds a
knife. In this knife there are the initials of Arne Saknussemm. The Professor
finds initials on a cave wall.
CHAPTER 9:
The Professor thinks
he has found the way to the centre of the Earth. The Professor and Axel get
Hans and return to the cave. In this cave there is a huge nock that’s blocking
the way. The Professor has an idea … “Let’s use gunpowder to blow up that nock “.
The men leave the cave and Hans prepares the gunpowder and he lights the gunpowder.
A few minutes later,
the gunpowder explodes, but something has gone wrong. The explosion has caused
an earthquake!
A huge wave carries
them inside the cave.
The three men are
inside the volcano.
CHAPTER 10:
The Professor, Axel
and Hans are trapped inside an exploding volcano. Suddenly, the raft flies out
of the volcano. The raft crashes on the side of the mountain. The men run for
their lives from the erupting volcano. At the bottom of the volcano, they find
a vineyard. They walk until they find a small seaside town …
Then the three men go
to question (where they are?) The answer of the boy is: You are in Stromboli.
Several weeks later they arrive in Hamburg …
The town prepares a
party for the three mans.
